WELCOME
CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: People of God, open your ears! Come and celebrate the story of our God, a story of compassion and mercy, of redemption and love.
People: We celebrate a story passed down from generation to generation, a story celebrated by God’s people around the world.
Leader: So that we will never forget the wonderful things our God has done!
All: Let’s praise God together!
*HYMN #301 (Red) Let us Build a House (verses 1,3,5)
Let us build a house where love can dwell
And all can safely live
A place where saints and children tell
How hearts learn to forgive
Built of hopes and dreams and visions
Rock of faith and vault of grace
Here the love of Christ shall end divisions
All are welcome, all are welcome
All are welcome in this place
Let us build a house where love is found
In water, wine and wheat
A banquet hall on holy ground
Where peace and justice meet
Here the love of God, through Jesus
Is revealed in time and space
As we share in Christ the feast that frees us
All are welcome, all are welcome
All are welcome in this place
Let us build a house where all are named
Their songs and visions heard
And loved and treasured, taught and claimed
As words within the Word
Built of tears and cries of laughter
Prayers of faith and songs of grace
Let this house proclaim from floor to rafter
All are welcome, All are welcome
All are welcome in this place
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, father of grace: You have called us to one table, but we have pursued our own course. You have promised us the abundance of all creation, but in our greed, and in our envy, the world goes without. You have promised us the bread of life itself, but in our pride, and in our arrogance, the world goes hungry. You have promised us the waters of peace and justice, but in our violence, and in our discord, the world goes thirsty. And now we are famished, too, Lord. Have mercy on us. Forgive us, again. Transform us, at your table, and for your table, and send us from your table as servants of your righteousness, by the power of your Son, our Lord. Amen.
#469 (red) Lord Listen to Your Children Praying
Lord, listen to your children praying.
Lord, send your Spirit in this place.
Lord, listen to your children praying.
Send us love; send us power; send us grace.

SERMON “Sons are Just Like That” Robby Flint, CRE
Affirmation of Faith from the Scotts Confession:
We confess and acknowledge one God alone, to whom alone we must cleave, whom alone we must serve, whom only we must worship, and in whom alone we put our trust. Who is eternal, infinite, immeasurable, incomprehensible, omnipotent, invisible; one in substance and yet distinct in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
SERVICE FOR WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY
INVITATION TO THE TABLE
HYMN # 515 (red) I Come with Joy (remain seated)
I come with joy, a child of God,
forgiven, loved, and free,
the life of Jesus to recall
,in love laid down for me,
in love laid down for me.
I come with Christians far and near
to find, as all are fed,
the new community of love
in Christ’s communion bread
,in Christ’s communion bread.
As Christ breaks bread and bids us share,
each proud division ends.
The love that made us, makes us one,
and strangers now are friends,
and strangers now are friends.
The Spirit of the risen Christ,
unseen, but ever near,
is in such friendship better known
,alive among us here,
alive among us here.
Together met, together bound
by all that God has done,
we’ll go with joy, to give the world
the love that makes us one,
the love that makes us one.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
The Lord be with you
And also with you
Lift up your hearts
We lift them to the Lord
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
… Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with all the faithful of every time and place:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord
Hosanna in the highest.
… Great is the mystery of faith:
Christ has died, Christ has risen,
Christ will come again.
…who taught us to pray:
LORD’S PRAYER (on screen)
WORDS OF INSTITUTION AND BREAKING OF THE BREAD
(come forward to receive the elements)
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
SPECIAL MUSIC: How Good It Is (choir) Getty
Oh, how good it is
When the family of God
Dwells together in spirit
In faith and unity
Where the bonds of peace
Of acceptance and love
Are the fruit of His presence here among us
So with one voice we’ll sing to the Lord
And with one heart we’ll live out His word
Till the whole earth sees
The Redeemer has come
For He dwells in the presence of His people
Oh how good it is
On this journey we share
To rejoice with the happy
And weep with those who mourn
For the weak find strength
The afflicted find grace
When we offer the blessing of belonging
So with one voice we’ll sing to the Lord
And with one heart we’ll live out His word
Till the whole earth sees
The Redeemer has come
For He dwells in the presence of His people
INVITATION TO OFFERING and PRAYER OF DEDICATION
*HYMN # 306 (Red) Blest Be the Tie That Binds
Blest be the tie that binds
our hearts in Christian love.
The fellowship of kindred minds
is like to that above.
Before our Father's throne
we pour our ardent prayers
.Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
our comforts and our cares.
We share our mutual woes;
our mutual burdens bear.
And often for each other flows
the sympathizing tear.
When we are called to part,
it gives us inward pain;
but we shall still be joined in heart,
and hope to meet again.
From sorrow, toil, and pain,
and sin we shall be free;
and perfect love and friendship reign
through all eternity.
