CALL TO WORSHIP
Come, Holy Spirit! Set our hearts afire!
For God has done wondrous things for us.
Come, Holy Spirit! Fill us with the power of the rushing wind that we may faithfully serve you in all that we do.
Help us to boldly proclaim Christ Risen. AMEN.
*OPENING HYMN #408 (Red) There’s a Sweet, Sweet Spirit
There’s a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,
And I know that it’s the Spirit of the Lord;
There are sweet expressions on each face,
And I know they feel the presence of the Lord.
Refrain:
Sweet Holy Spirit, sweet heavenly Dove,
Stay right here with us, filling us with your love;
And for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise;
Without a doubt we’ll know that we have been revived when we shall leave this place.
There are blessings you cannot receive
Till you know him in his fullness and believe;
You’re the one to profit when you say,
“I am going to walk with Jesus all the way.” [Refrain]
*CALL TO CONFESSION
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
O God, your Spirit is here, your church is born, and the day of the Lord is coming. You have gathered all people together in your Spirit, and you have brought new life to all. Still, O Lord, we cannot trust, we turn away, we fear speaking about our faith. Forgive us. As you did for your first church, breathe the fire of life into us and reveal to us your life-giving presence. In Jesus name, Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
* HYMN # 288 (Red) Spirit of the Living God
Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me,
Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me.

SCRIPTURE READING
John 14:26-27
26 The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
MONOLOGUE I Was There Robby Flint
*HYMN (on insert) Love Lifted Me
I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore.
Very deeply strained within, sinking to rise no more;
the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.
Refrain:
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help, Love lifted me!
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help, Love lifted me!
All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him I’ll cling;
In His blessed presence live, ever His praises sing.
Love so mighty and so true merits my soul’s best songs;
Faithful, loving service, too, to Him belongs. [Refrain]
Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely saves;
He will lift you by His love out of the angry waves.
He’s the Master of the sea, billows His will obey;
He your Savior wants to be, be saved today. [Refrain]
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH - (Brief Statement of Faith 1991)
We trust in God the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life. The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith, sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor, and binds us together with all believers in the one body of Christ, the Church. In a broken and fearful world the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, and to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior.
